AFFORDABLE LEGAL COSTS

We are happy to negotiate an agreed price with you, before we commence any work, so you know what you’re up for when the job is done. Below is a price list for some items which are easy to define.

CRIMINAL LAW FEES

Magistrates Court Attendance

Mention – Single Brief                                                                           From $875.00

Mention – Multiple Briefs                                                                       From $1,250.00

Fixed fees are inclusive of GST. These fees are for a single Court attendance and do not include fees for multiple Court attendances. When we know more about your matter and what it involves we can give you a fixed fee quote.

FAMILY LAW FEES

Application for Divorce

Divorce application by consent -Joint filing $1,750 includes $900 filing fee

Divorce application requiring appearance   $2,500 includes $900 filing fee

Consent Orders 

Where you have reached agreement about children’s or property matters and wish to formalise these. These fees are for our time only in preparing the application and minute of agreement and do not include costs for negotiating an agreement or the Court filing fee.

Applying to Court or Responding to Court Proceedings

Fixed fee is for drafting of the Application or Response, Affidavit, Notice of Risk and Financial Statement as required.

Court Appearances are from $1,100 per day and will vary depending on the type of hearing and the stage of your application.

Fixed fees are inclusive of GST. Fixed fees do not include disbursements required for the production of property related certificates or for legal work required to be undertaken in addition to the sale or purchase of your property.

You can expect that QHM Lawyers:

  • will provide you with information in writing about the rates we charge for our work;

  • will provide you with initial cost estimates in relation to your case, in relation to Court costs (where relevant) or should your matter resolve without Court involvement;

  • will send you interim invoices to ensure that you are informed of your ongoing legal costs on a regular basis;

  • will provide you with written information about your rights in relation to legal costs;

  • will not incur any substantial disbursements (out-of-pocket expenses such as barrister’s fees) without prior consultation with you; and

  • reserve’s the right to charge interest on any bills that are not paid in full within 14 days.

QHM Lawyers expects all clients to:

  • sign a written costs agreement which describes the manner in which we charge for our services;

  • pay invoices promptly; and

  • make a payment to be held in our trust account for the payment of your legal costs and disbursements (out-of-pocket expenses). Any money held in our trust account can only be used to pay our invoices for work performed by us or for the payment of disbursements in consultation with you.
